Some Darul Uloom students have initiated a controversy regarding the Ijtimaee Dua which the Imaam and Musallis make silently after the Fardh Salaat. Some claim that this Dua is bid’ah; some say that it is pointless to engage in the congregational dua because of the Imaam’s silence; some say that there is no Hadith to prove this dua. What is the status of this Dua?
The students who raise these objections are in reality a new breed of Juhhaal (ignoramuses). If they reflect a bit, they will understand their own Ilmi deficiencies and the shocking shallowness of their thoroughly defective ‘research’. The objections are drivel. The very first hurdle these molvilike juhala should overcome is the Ijmaee (unanimous) amal (practice) of all our Akaabir Ulama of Deoband, Saharanpur, Jalalabad and the numerous other Deeni Madaaris all affiliated to Daarul Uloom Deoband which has been the Flagship in the struggle against bid’ah and dhalaal.
They first have to demolish this solid obstacle in their path to proclaim this Dua bid’ah. We are positive that most of these juhhaal objectors lack the ability to even correctly understand the outward texts of the kutub they study, leave alone having ventured anywhere in proximity to the Baatini dimension of Ilm. If they had possessed any wisdom any Noor of Ilm, they would not have expressed so brazenly their nonsensical arguments devoid of Shar’i substance.
If the Imaam’s act of making the Dua silently is a valid ground for abstention from the Dua, then on the same basis should they abstain from the Zuhr and Asr jamaa’t Salaat, and from the last two raka’ts of Isha Salaat, and from every Tashahhud of every jamaa’t Salaat because Atahiyaat, Durood and Dua are recited silently by the Imaam.
The claim that there is no Hadith to substantiate the Dua presupposes a knowledge which encompasses all of the hundreds of thousands of Ahaadith which are scattered in innumerable Books of Hadith. The juhhaal students seek to convey the idea that they are such ‘Muhadditheen who have encompassed every Hadith there exists, hence they are able to acquit themselves with ‘authority’ and ‘conviction’ on this issue.
The fact is that due to their i/mi inadequacy they are awed and daunted by the other -type of Juhhaal called Salafis who claim that the Dua after Fardh Salaat is bid’ah. Since they are unable to respond to the stupidities of the Salafi ignoramuses, they meekly follow their baatil while at the same time concealing their covert taqleed of the Salafi chaps by professing the absence of Hadith to substantiate this practice. They speak like the modernist morons who say for every Shar’i practice which militates against their westernized palates, that there is no Qur’aanic proof for it.
Assuming that there is no Hadith for the congregational Dua, these Darul Uloom students should at least have known that the Dalaa-il of the Shariah are not two. Even a beginner in the first year at Madrasah will know that the Shariah has Four Dalaa-il. If a practice which is established in the Ummah and upheld by all the Akaabir Ulama, Muftis and Auliya of all ages, it being an amal based on the Dalaail of the Shariah will be an axiomatic truth which only half-baked students will see with their squint-eyed vision as unsubstantiated. A practice which is structured on any of the Four Evidences of the Shariah, carries with it Qur’aanic and Sunnah sanction. Its validity based on any of the Four Dalaa-il assigns to it the status of the Sunnah.
What we have proffered here is only some naseehat for the miscreant students of defective knowledge and deficient research. Insha’Allah, if Allah Ta’ala bestows the taufeeq, we shall prepare a book on the Dua after the Fardh Salaat to respond to the stupid arguments which students of defective knowledge lacking in entirety in the Noor of Ilm fabricate and borrow from the Salafijuhhaal..
