The following articles (written in 1996) are articles written by Hadhrat Maulana Ahmed Sadek Sahib (daamat barakatuhum) following his first fact finding trip into Bangladesh, compelling him to initiate some form of relief (spiritual and physical) to the deprived Muslim masses of Bangladesh.
MISSIONARY MENACE
A flood of kufr and irtidaad is sweeping the Muslim world. Preying on the colossal ignorance of Muslim masses Christian missionaries now constitute a great menace. Christian missionaries with vast financial resources and the backing of western Christian governments are making concerted effort in their onslaught to convert Muslims to Christianity. They are presently operating in a number of Muslim countries enjoying the support of even the ‘Muslim’ governments of the lands wherein they are based.
BANGLADESH
The most fertile ground for the operation of these missionaries is Bangladesh. The colossal ignorance of the masses coupled with extreme poverty has vastly facilitated the task of these missionaries. Bangladesh with a Muslim population of about 120 million is flooded with Christian missionary organizations ostensibly working as aid and relief agencies. By means of the provision of aid for the poor, destitute and ignorant, these luckless souls are trapped into the kufr network of the missionaries.
Operating in about 800 known villages, the missionaries have converted thousands of Muslims, especially children, to Christianity.
ARKANI MUSLIMS
The problem in Bangladesh is compounded by hundreds of thousands of Arkani Muslims who have been forcibly expelled from their homes and land (Arakan) by the Burmese Buddhist government. The oppression, torture and rape of women by the brutal Burmese security forces have compelled hundreds of thousands of Arakani Muslims to migrate. They have taken shelter along the borders of Bangladesh where they languish in squalor, hardship and extreme poverty. They too have become the victims of the predations of the Christian missionaries.
MISSIONARY AID
When these Christian relief (missionary) agencies set up their operation of kufr in a village, they direct their attention to Muslim females and children. The relief aid is given to women not to men. Women have to line up for the food rations provided by these agencies. In this way the Hijab of the womenfolk is assaulted and finally destroyed. The poverty, hardship and ignorance of these people have opened up the way for this concerted Christian onslaught.
The starving villages with their ignorant masses are converted to Christianity by means of food rations and other material needs. Once a village has come onto the list of kufr, a hospital, a school and other amenities of life spring up. The social standard of the destitute is upgraded and converts to Christianity are gained. Being totally ignorant of even the very basic requirements of Imaan, these unfortunate Muslim children are swallowed by the serpent of kufr.
It has been reliably reported from Bangladesh that when a Muslim woman accepts the relief aid offered by these peddlers of kufr, a seal/emblem of Christianity (perhaps a cross) is stamped onto her thigh. This seal remains there lifelong. On her death, the Christians claim her body on the strength of the seal which is considered to be proof of her Christianity. On this basis these kuffaar take possession of her body.
MISSIONARY INFLUENCE
With their vast financial resources these relief agencies excise great influence over even the Muslim government which is sometimes constrained by Christian insistence to close down even Musjids and Madrasahs functioning in refugee camps.
On all sides the Ummah is hemmed in. There is no Muslim response worthy of note in the field to combat this tide of kufr and irtidaad. In Bangladesh there is only one local Muslim organization rendering noble service in this field although its work is extremely limited on account of the lack of resources.
Another two or perhaps three non-Bangladeshi bodies from the Arab World have offices in Bangladesh . However, their work is a mere showpiece and presents no answer for the avalanche of kufr sweeping the nation of Islam in Bangladesh.
FIGHTING KUFR
The conflagration of kufr and irtidaad sweeping Bangladesh is a matter of urgent concern to the entire Ummah. It is the obligation of all those who have the means to assist in the sacred task of combating the missionary onslaught to open up their hearts and put their shoulders to the noble effort. Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said:
“Muslims are like one person. When the eye pains, the entire body feels the pain and when the head pains the whole body feels the pain.”
By the fadhl of Allah Ta’ala a programme of action is being initiated to combat to some extent the onslaught of kufr in Bangladesh and among the Arkaani Muslim refugees stranded and abandoned in cruel conditions in Bangladesh. The first part of the programme will be the establishment of Madrasahs for the children in villages where no institutions of Islamic learning exist. If the children acquire the basic Madrasah Taleem so vital for the preservation of Imaan, they will tomorrow not become so vulnerable to the missionary onslaught. The plan calls for the establishment of Madrasahs in all areas where the missionaries are active as well as in such places where there are no Madrasahs and even no missionary activity. Success of the plan depends on Maqbooliyat (Acceptance) by Allah Ta’ala. We are confident of His aid. But, the incumbent duty rests on the Ummah to take up cudgels and practically enter the field to contend with the agents of shaitaan. In this noble effort most Muslims, no matter where they are, can play an important role for the sake of gaining Allah ‘s pleasure. It is a sacred obligation which must not be shirked by those capable of assisting.
While the task is mammoth and formidable, it is not beyond the capabilities of concerned Muslims. It is a noble Jihad and we call on Muslims to step forward. Some sacrifice which in true and Islamic terms is no sacrifice, has to be made of a bit of the wealth bestowed to us by Allah Ta’ala.
MADRASAH
What is a Madrasah in the context of the conflagration of Bangladesh? A Madrasah to save the Imaan of children hovering on the brink of kufr, is not the concept which affluent people have in mind. It is not a building of a million rands constructed as a showpiece . Where there is an existing Musjid, Insha’Allah, it will be utilized to house pupils for Taleem . Only Ustaads will have to be employed. Such teachers are readily available in Bangladesh. The monthly wage is about R200 ($60). About R2,500 will retain the services of an Ustaad for a whole year. In some villages the need will be for two or three Ustaads.
Where there is no Musjid, a bamboo structure costing between R500 and R1,000 depending on size, will Insha’Allah, be erected. This is about $250. The costs of running Madrasahs in relation to the costs we know in affluent communities are minimal. But the project is mammoth since hundreds of villages are involved.
YOUR SADAQAH
From the aforegoing explanation it can be seen that most Muslims in the affluent countries can quite easily assist by sponsoring a Madrasah in Bangladesh . R5,000 or less per year, depending on the size of the bamboo structure and the number of teachers employed. Those unable to sponsor a full Madrasah can nevertheless contribute whatever they can afford . The contributions of several persons can bring about the establishment of a Madrasah. Sadqah, Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said, extinguishes the Wrath of Allah Ta’ala. It wards off calamities which overtake communities on account of their transgression.
FEEDING
If the means become available, some feeding scheme for the destitute children could also be implemented. Hunger drives the ignorant towards kufr, hence the missionaries are able to prey on these children.
MUJLISUL ULAMA
The Mujlisul Ulama of South Africa will, Insha’Allah, be actively participating in this effort to combat the kufr onslaught. You are urged to contribute generously towards this holy mission for Allah ‘s sake and for your own sake-for your betterment in this world and for your everlasting success in the Aakhirah.
The Message and the extent of the problem have been conveyed to you. On the Day of Qiyaamah you who are able to assist will not be in position to present excuses for your inertia and refusal to aid the Programme to save a large segment of the Ummah from the snares of kufr being spun by the western kuffaar. May Allah Ta’ala grant you the taufeeq to realise and to understand the dangers facing not only Bangladesh, but all Muslim communities throughout the world. We cannot sit snugly in our comforts and luxuries viewing in isolation the suffering segments of the Ummah.
THIS PROJECT
This project is no ordinary pet project initiated for satisfying the eyes and fancies of people such as those who spend millions wastefully on uncalled for expansion and adornment of uncalled for Musjid buildings. This PROJECT is a call for enlisting in a life and death struggle in which Imaan and Kufr are locked. The opposition which concerned Muslims can field to confront the forces of kufr is apparently small and weak. But we have the following assurance of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam):
“Verily, Islam began in a forlorn state. Soon will it return to that forlorn state. Therefore congratulations to the Ghuraba (those poor and unaided ones striving for the Deen of Allah).”
A SHAR’I DEMAND
In the name of Islam a Shar’i demand is made to you to contribute generously towards this Effort. Remember that not only Zakaat is Waajib . It is Waajib to contribute according to your means in all Deeni projects of need. Today there is no greater project than the Project and Jihad of fighting kufr and Irtidaad. Therefore consider it as your Waajib obligation to assist.
Jazaakumullaah!
BANGLADESH AID THE STRUGGLE KUFR VS IMAAN
tahir
Assalaamu’laykum wa raHmatuLlaahi wa barakaauth.
Respected elders.
Belonging to the french speaking world and being a weak converted muslim, i’m not at all worthy of writing a proper comment but i just want to say that your projects is either the noblest or among the noblest ones.
So may Allah give you the tawfeeq (aameen). Also please don’t forget the other possible struggling elders and also the next generations until the end of time in your du’a for indeed Allah qudra encompasses everything and in my weak point of view such a du’a -unless you are already doing it- will complete/fill in any breach related to us in general and to such a noble task in particular.
Jazakumullaah.
(note: i’m neither alim nore as aware as ulama ul Haqq but apart from te majlis which i discovered recently (this year) i don’t know any other such an islamic body in the whole world so all praises is due to Allah who realises His promises).
